Keep important content about 150 px from the top, 300 px from the bottom, 40 px from the left and 120 px from the right of a 1080×1920 frame. LinkedIn Video: the poster's name and headline overlay the top, the caption and engagement controls sit along the bottom, and the playback and mute controls take space at the edges.
LinkedIn is the one major network where video is as likely to be a talking head or a slide recording as a trend. That changes what safe zone means. Vertical video is now a real option on the platform, and when you use it, the poster's name, headline and controls overlay the frame in ways that can cover a face or a caption.
This guide explains where those elements fall, what LinkedIn's own help pages say about file and length limits, and how to adjust a video made for another platform. The overlay margins are measured estimates, and unlike some of our other platforms, several of the LinkedIn file limits can be traced to LinkedIn's help pages.
What the LinkedIn interface covers
Our overlay reserves about 150 pixels at the top, 300 at the bottom, 40 on the left and 120 on the right. The top band holds the poster's name and headline, and the bottom holds the post text, reactions and the playback controls.
The margins are smaller than TikTok's, so a layout designed for TikTok is safe on LinkedIn, though you may be able to use a little more of the frame.
Because most LinkedIn video is watched in a feed and not in a full-screen scroll, behavior varies with the device and placement. Treat the overlay as a guide.
Length and file limits
LinkedIn's help pages state a maximum file size of 5 GB and a minimum of 75 KB. They describe a maximum duration of 15 minutes, with one help page giving 15 minutes for desktop and 10 for the mobile app. That discrepancy is why the table shows both figures.
Frameguard warns when a video is longer than 10 minutes, the more cautious number, and when a file is larger than 5 GB.
Video ads have stricter rules from the native post limits, including a smaller file cap, so check the ad specifications separately if you are running paid placements.
Captions, hashtags and text
LinkedIn post text can run to 3,000 characters, though the feed shows only the opening lines before a see more link. Open with your strongest sentence and keep it short.
Hashtags work as topics on LinkedIn, and about three is a common recommendation. Frameguard does not enforce a limit.
Add captions to your video. Many LinkedIn viewers watch at work with the sound off, so burned-in or uploaded captions help. Keep them in the lower middle of the safe area.
Adapting a video from another platform
A TikTok or Reels video will usually work on LinkedIn with little change, but the tone and the first few seconds often need a rethink. Put the point first.
Switch between the other platform tabs to check that the framing works, then verify the margins on the LinkedIn tab.
If the video is horizontal, LinkedIn handles that natively, so you may not need a vertical version at all. Use the tool when you do want the vertical format.
Common mistakes
Relying on a file or length number from a third-party blog. LinkedIn has changed its limits, and different help pages disagree.
Covering your own face with a headline. Put titles in the upper third of the safe rectangle, not on the subject.
Posting without captions, which loses everyone watching silently.
Specs at a glance
The LinkedIn rows in the table are among the better-supported in Frameguard because several can be traced to LinkedIn's own help text. Each row is labelled by how confident we are.

Pre-export checklist
- Export vertical at 1080×1920 if you want the vertical format.
- Keep the top 150 pixels free of key content.
- Keep the bottom 300 pixels free of captions you need.
- Stay under 5 GB and under 10 minutes to be safe.
- Add captions for sound-off viewers.
- Put the point in the first seconds.
- Open the post text with a short hook.
- Run the text collision check on a still.
LinkedIn Video safe zone FAQ
What is the maximum LinkedIn video size?
LinkedIn's help text gives 5 GB as the maximum file size and 75 KB as the minimum. Video ads have a smaller cap.
How long can a LinkedIn video be?
LinkedIn's help pages say 15 minutes, with one page giving 15 minutes on desktop and 10 on mobile. Frameguard warns above 10 minutes to be safe.
Does LinkedIn support vertical video?
Yes. When you use it, the poster name, headline and controls overlay the frame, which is what the safe zone overlay shows.
Are these safe zones official?
No. The margins are Frameguard's own measured estimates, drawn conservatively. They are not published by the platforms, and apps change their layouts, so each page shows when it was last reviewed.
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. Frameguard runs entirely in your browser. Your file is decoded and drawn to a canvas on your device and never sent to a server. The optional text check loads a script library, but your image is still processed locally.
Can I download a template instead?
Yes. Use the Blank template button in the tool, or download ready-made PNG overlays from the safe zone templates page.
